Science on Tap
08.07.2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Meet, drink and talk science during Loudoun County Public Library‘s series for adults 21 and older. This month, Janelia Research Campus senior fellow Ulrike Heberlein will discuss the brain mechanisms that lead to addiction, a major problem in medicine and society today. She will describe the development of the fruit fly as a model system to unravel the genetic and environmental underpinnings of alcoholism. Natural rewards (such as sex) and drug rewards (such as alchohol) and how they interact in the brain to control behavior will be discussed.
