FAQ

Where are you located?

We’re off Loudoun County Parkway in Ashburn, VA. Immediately adjacent to the W&OD bike trail between Mile Marker 25 and 25.5.

How big is your space?

We have 12,440 square feet. Of that, about 1700 sq. ft. is dedicated to the tasting room. Another 1700 sq. ft. is dedicated to office space. The remaining 9,040 is dedicated to beer production.

How long have you been open?

We took possession of our Ashburn space on November 1, 2013. A lengthy construction process took place between December 2013 and June 2014. Upon completion we immediately began brewing and opened our tasting room on June 26, 2014. We opened a tasting room in Middleburg on June 29, 2019.

Are you a brewpub? Will you be serving food?

Our Ashburn Tasting Room allows customers to sample our beers, purchase pints of beer for on-site consumption, and purchase growlers and kegs for off-site consumption. We do not have a kitchen in the Tasting Room but we do have guest food trucks! Want to know what food truck is on the schedule? Visit www.oldoxbrewery.com/food. We also offer small chips and snacks for purchase. Our Middleburg Tasting Room has a full kitchen and a beer-friendly menu.

How large is your brewhouse?

We brew on a 30-barrel brewhouse. Just to give you some perspective, each batch we brew will produce 930 gallons of beer. That is enough for 9,920 12-oz. cans of beer or a little over 413 cases of beer per batch.

How long does it take to brew a batch of beer?

The answer to that one is, “it depends.” Although the brewing cycle can vary from one beer style to another, most ales will take about 2 to 3 weeks from the time they are brewed to the time they are ready for consumption. Lagers take longer due to the fact that a different type of yeast is used which ferments at lower temperatures for a longer period of time. Typically it will take about 6 weeks to produce a lager.

What kinds of beer do you brew?

We have four beers that we brew year-round. These include our Alpha Ox, a Hoppy Pale Ale (full flavored but with an alcohol level of about 4.5% for those who want more than one); Golden Ox, a golden ale; Hoppy Place a West Coast Style IPA; Hop Camo, a juicy IPA; and Black Ox, a rye porter. We will also produce limited release beers including specialty IPAs, Lagers, Bocks, Sour Ales,  Imperial Porters and Stouts and a cherry farmhouse ale, the official beer of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

Where can I buy your beer?

We are on draft in restaurants and in grocery stores and retailers throughout Northern Virginia, District of Columbia and Maryland.

Does Old Ox Brewery make charitable contributions?

One way that Old Ox supports its community is through charitable giving. We receive requests every day from extraordinarily worthwhile causes. Because our resources are limited, we have created a Charitable Request Approval Process to help us to structure our giving in a way that has the most impact on our local community.
