Spring migration is just around the corner! What better way to brush up on bird identification than with a fun-filled trivia game? Compete against Cornell Lab’s Merlin Bird ID app to identify birds by photo or sound. Get birding tips and learn about ornithology research from Merlin project coordinator Alli Smith.
The Merlin Bird ID app, developed by the Cornell Lab and powered by machine learning, will be put to the test. Can the app outperform an experienced birder and you, our live audience? This is an interactive game, so come ready to play! Throughout the game, we’ll explore how Merlin “decides” on an ID. An expert birder will share advice on how to identify tricky birds—plus, they’ll provide insights into birding during spring migration.
This program is a collaboration with the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.
