100 Years of Black Music in the Nation’s Capital

Musician and historian Ken Avis uses film clips and recordings to celebrate the rich African American popular music culture that took root with jazz, reverberated to the sound of rhythm and blues and pumped up the funk and soul. He describes how home-grown artists carried the sound of DC to Motown, Philly and beyond. A free program compliments of the Loudoun County Public Library!
