This year’s The Oxorcist is dedicated to the Civil War ghosts of Leesburg’s Paxton House. Paxton House was built adjacent to the field where the Battle of Ball’s Buff took place 11 years after the battle. It is commonly believed that soldiers from the battle sought shelter at Paxton Manor—“not realizing that they were already dead! Still traumatized by the horrors of war, they have yet to move on.” You can have a close encounter with a Paxton Manor ghost each October during Shocktober when the mansion is open to the public…visit if you dare!
