LCPL: Unlocking the Basics of MIDI

Music composer and George Washington University professor Heather Stebbins introduces you to the history and fundamentals of MIDI, an electronic standard in any digital music production environment. The presentation includes a “hands-on” experience that shows you how to create your own music.

Professor Stebbins will be using Ableton Live 12 during the event. We recommend downloading and installing the free trial version of Ableton Live 12 before you arrive. You can download it from the following link:

Bring the following items to ensure you can fully participate in all activities:

  1. Laptop: Please bring your personal laptop.
  2. Headphones: Essential for individual audio tasks.
  3. MIDI Controllers: If you have any small MIDI controllers, you are welcome to bring one
