Bat Out of Helles Munich Helles Lager brewed by Mark
Food Pairing: Reuben with house made corned beef, kraut, spicy island dressing, local marble rye.
This Munich Helles pays Homage to the Brewers from Spaten Brewery for developing a world-renowned beer. A Munich Helles is a Lager…but a unique and distinctive one. Helles, which translates to “bright,” “pale,” or “light” is a Lager that was originally developed around Munich in the late nineteenth century by the Spaten Brewery in Munich Germany. Traditionally the Helles Lager is a bit bready and exerts a malt-forward characteristic. Sometimes referred to as a “Munich Helles Lager,” this classic beer is medium-bodied, pours heady, and has a striking golden color. It is a flavorful yet refreshingly uncomplicated style and one of the world’s most common and popular beers. Inherently sessionable due to its relatively low ABV, these Lagers lend themselves to early afternoon and hot weather drinking. The Helles Lager is what is called a classic “lawnmower” beer – and it is the perfect refreshment after a hot summer day of working in the yard or biking and a vacation standard built for drinking many! ABV: 4.8% Brewer: Mark
California Common (Mariposa Street) Amber Lager brewed by Brent
Food Pairing: Chicken Natchos with smoky chicken, beer queso, pico de gallo.
This amber lager is a nod to a San Francisco brewery that made the California Common style famous. The grain bill (Pale, Crystal, Extra Special) produces a light amber beer with a malty sweetness and toasty notes. The hops (German Northern Brewer) contribute herbal, pine, and mint tones. The yeast (California Lager) produces a clean profile but with a touch more fruity esters than a typical lager yeast. The goal is an easy drinking lager loaded with flavor. ABV: 5.5% Brewer: Brent
